Beethoven In Trance - Episode 27
Long time
Friday morning at the office. Cloudy sky and wet air. Not a typical happy Friday.
Brother in law just got a job offer the second day after the interview. The company really wants him bad.
Our neighbor helped us getting our lawn mower started last night, he also wanted to give us his old weed wacker, though I told him that I already had one. Well, he likes Chinese roasted duck. I know what he is getting for dinner this weekend.
Need to go to Homedepot with neighbor this afternoon, he will put in a track light in the kitchen for us. Our kitchen is too dark to me. I want my stainless steep appliances and pots and pans dazzling under the light. Grim.
Need to get some stove cleaner too. I haven't taken care of my stove for a while.
Will go finishing next weekend. It's free fishing day. Then we will go to a Chinese buffet afterwards.
Still a glooming day outside. People at the office just sent out an email asking for Chipotle. They are huge on that burito. I am not. Will have to pass on that again. They understand. They will be surprised if I accept.
Made fry onions and green bean last night. Coated fresh cut onion will flour and seasoned it with salt and pepper. Deep-fried it till golden brown. Tossed it over "green" bean. "Green" bean means that it has been boiled in the water in extensively long time till it's no longer green by my inlaw. What's the point of buying fresh green bean if you will boil it in water till it's not longer green? A canned green bean will save you money, boil time, and water. Duh??? Well, it's believed that there is some harmful element in the fresh green bean that will be broken down in the boiling process. Therefore.... But, it's only arguably true....
Working on a project involving ACCESS and EXCEL with two other colleagues. It's quite an experience. The zen of 'climbing corporate ladder' is to present yourself as the person who does everything in front of your boss even when you don't know the subject. It's said among the Christians that you need to give in order to receive. Well, I don't see I received anything yet while I have been assisting in running the project behind the scene. Is it fair? Hum... Does it mean I should keep my mouth shut and let the project go south? Well, if I don't step in, project fails, everybody looks bad - including me. So, no choice huh? But what did I learn from this, or is there anything I can learn from it? Well, I would like to say what's learned is that give complements generously to the people around me when I am leading the team. But with no one giving me credits for accomplishments, how can I get to leadership position? The self-defensive mechanism kicks off and sends signal to the brain and says - "anger is a waste of energy, gold will shine someday"...
For those who are blessed to work in jobs they like, lucky you. For those who have no such lucky, find out what you like to do and go do it. For those who are not lucky, and can't switch the jobs because you are on working visa. I really don't know what to tell you, cause I haven't found out the answer yet. (first step might be writing it in blog)
